About Al Quattlebaum
Algernon J. Quattlebaum is a husband, father, minister, business owner, someone that cares about his community and is always ready to serve. Al Quattlebaum served in the Armed Forces in the US Army and the National Guard.
As a young man, Al Quattlebaum always understood the value of service and helping others. His mother always said he “has a big heart.” Al would travel around the country living in North Carolina, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, and on his travels, he learned the value of working with others that had different points of view.
Al also learned that everyone has their point of view and is entitled to their opinion. A lesson that would prove valuable later in life.
Al’s was the owner and head Chef of Big Al’s Soul & Catering; they had to close its doors because of the pandemic. However, Al found a way to stay close to what he loved by providing food to people in need. During the height of the pandemic, Al and his team were feeding up to 5000 a month Bronx-wide.
Al is the founder and president of the People First Democrat Club in Co-op City. They are dedicated to educating the community about civics and how the political process works. Al believes in an “educated and informed community.”
Al enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife, Gail. Al’s daughter Asiah is in her freshmen year in college, and his son Mylo lives in Las Vegas.
